GPAG & BOLTON SCHOOL - MAYDAY PREPARATION

Monday 27th April - 2015

The Darcy Lever Gravel Pits Action Group - GPAG was joined today by Bolton School boys. In preparation for the coming bank holiday Mayday event they helped clear the litter that had gathered near Croft Entrance, flattened a path and cleared back the scrub.

Eager to get to work making a difference to a Grade A Site of Biological Importance the Bolton School boys attitude and work ethic help to keep the Gravel Pits as one of Bolton's favorite SBI's to visit.

GPAG & BOLTON SCHOOL - BOARDWALK REPAIRS

Monday 16th March - 2015

Bolton School joined GPAG for a day in woodcraft. The boardwalks antislip wiring had become rusted and needed replacement with new wiring. The lads split into two groups, one small group of litter pickers and one large groups involved in the repairs.

By the end of the visit the boardwalk was looking as good as new.

GPAG & BOLTON SCHOOL - COPPICING AND DEAD HEDGING

Monday 2nd March - 2015

Bolton School joined GPAG for a day in woodland management. The boys were shown the correct techniques to safely fell trees using bowsaws and loppers for clearance. The fallen timber was then gathered and placed into two large deadhedges.

There was plenty of enthusiasm and plenty of work was accomplished.
